BEGINNERS AFRICAN DRUMMING course held at Bucksport High School Adult and Community Education Center, 102 Broadway, Bucksport. (Limit 10)

Djembe drum available to use during the course. If you have your own drum, please contact PVSC before you register.
In this six week course, we will learn to play all parts of a West Afican Rhythm on Djembe drum, bass drums, and percussion instruments, creating multiple polyrhythmic layers.
Each session establishes the steps to the next one, making six consecutive sessions a mandate.
Come to class with a child's heart, laugh, play, and enjoy being in a rhythm community.

Instructor: LAURALYN BUIE
From 1996 - 2020, Lauralyn Buie was Director of Buie School of Music in Dover Foxcroft where she taught string instruments, piano, and voice. Her group of drummers, "Jambuie Drummers", was a multi-generational group that performed widely in Maine and she has facilitated myriad workshops.
Lauralyn has studied music since childhood and drumming with many teachers, in particular, with African Drum Masters, Annegret Baier and Abdullah Cyllya.
