Presenters: PVSC members John and Katie Greenman
John and Katie Greenman, after 36 years in Old Town where they settled to raise their children,
moved to Orland in 2014. A career in public television for John morphed into recording the works of
Mark Twain for Librivox. For Katie, years as a children’s librarian and educator transitioned to part
time work in reflexology. Volunteering with a variety of organizations and community efforts has kept
them both out of trouble. Traveling and camping as a family or a duo and hosting international
visitors over many years forged lasting memories and expanded multicultural connections for which
they are grateful. The last time they publicly presented anything related to travel together was after
living as a family for a year in Nanjing, China, 1988-1989. Travel to Antarctica was not on a “bucket
list”. The stars aligned and in spite of COVID still raging, they took "the plunge” with all the
excitement and reservations such a trip deserves.
