This 4-week course will cover the general trends of Scandinavian immigration to the United States from the mid-19th century through the mid-20 th century. Additionally, participants will explore the cultural, political, religious, and community institutions that Scandinavians engaged with and founded as they settled in the United States. Through that exploration, we will learn about the creation of Scandinavian-American cultural identities, many of which are still present in the American cultural landscape today.
