This Zoom presentation, featuring Sean Scovil, will provide an overview of youth homelessness in Maine in 2021. Discussion includes: underlying causes of youth homelessness, common challenges faced by youth experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity, the consequences of stigma, and strategies known to be effective in  helping youth become 'reconnected' to their communities.

Youth Homelessness

Presenter: SEAN SCOVIL, LCSW, LADC, CCS
Sean Scovil is a Licensed Clinical Social Work and Substance Use Counselor who has worked with adolescents and young adults in the Bangor area for about 25 years. He is the Clinical Director at Community Care in Bangor and provides services to staff and youth at Shaw House in Bangor.
Sean has learned to appreciate the strength and resilience possessed by many young people who find themselves in challenging positions. He welcomes the opportunity to talk with others about those challenges and offers ways that we can all partner to better meet the needs of Maine's youth.
