EXPLORING MAINE'S LUMBERING HISTORY at the MAINE FOREST
and LOGGING MUSEUM

Maine was the lumber capital of the world in the 1800's. In this presentation, we will explore this fascinating time by looking at living history demonstrations at the Maine Forest and Logging Museum, using photos and movies. Some of the unique features of the museum include a working water-powered sawmill and wood-fired Lombard steam log hauler built in Maine.
This museum is off the grid and offers an example of a more sustainable lifestyle as well as highlighting the innovative character of Mainers.
