If you look steadily into the face of your cat, you will see that there is an imaginary line that runs between her nostrils, between her eyes, and between her ears.  Every whisker and every stripe on the left side of the line matches a whisker and stripe on the right. 

That’s symmetry. 
     Why does nature love symmetry? 
     What does it have to do with beauty? 
     Why do Muslims, who are forbidden to portray living creatures’ shapes, abstract their symmetry in art? 

We’ll see where it leads---with Bob, anything can happen!

Bob has presented half a dozen courses for Maine senior colleges over the years—everything from code-breaking to herring fishery. This time he turns his attention to starfish, quilting, and wallpaper.
